Project Engineer
Do you contribute to the future of a sustainable and innovative production environment? Are you someone who understands technology, but above all gets energy from leading projects, connecting people, and realizing improvements? Do you enjoy taking initiative, asking questions, and managing multiple projects simultaneously in a LEAN production environment? Then this is a role in which you will truly excel. For Scania Production Meppel, we are looking for a Project Engineer with a strong (project) leadership profile. A role with a lot of independence, responsibility, and visible impact within a high-tech production environment.
Project Engineer at Scania Meppel
Although the job title Project Engineer suggests otherwise, the emphasis in this role is primarily on project management. You are the linchpin between technology, operations, and organization. You manage multiple technical projects simultaneously and ensure that ideas, plans, and improvements are actually implemented on the work floor.
The projects vary in scope and duration (from approximately 6 months to 1–2 years). Examples include safety issues that result in multiple improvement projects, process optimizations, or technical replacement projects. Sometimes you will have full responsibility as a project leader, and sometimes you will work within a larger program.
You work closely with engineers, operators, managers, and external parties. You know how to connect people, create support, and maintain an overview, even when interests and disciplines converge.
You are a connecting, curious, and goal-oriented project engineer who loves to see plans become reality.
What will you do?
- Leading and coordinating multiple technical projects simultaneously;
- Setting up and managing (partly self-assembled) project teams;
- Translating issues into concrete plans and feasible solutions;
- Monitoring progress, quality, safety, and results;
- Analyzing data and performing root cause analyses;
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and external partners;
- Contributing to continuous improvement within a LEAN production environment;
- You will be working in a team of 11 colleagues, where you will have a role with a high degree of independence. You will receive excellent guidance at the start, after which there will be plenty of room for initiative and growth.
What do you own?
- A completed technical higher professional education program and a solid foundation in engineering;
- Experience or affinity with project management;
- An analytical, results-oriented approach to work;
- Good communication skills in Dutch and English;
- Knowledge of LEAN methodology, just-in-time processes, and/or working in a production environment;
- You are proactive, switch easily between departments, and know how to get colleagues on board with new ideas and changes.
What do we offer you?
- A gross monthly salary of €4,291 to €5,425 (full-time);
- A profit share;
- 27 vacation days + 13 ADV days;
- The freedom to work hybrid where possible;
- Working in a modern factory with the latest technologies;
- A lot of responsibility, autonomy, and scope to really bring technical projects to life;
- Personal and professional development through the Next Level program with Green Belt certification.
